A Conservative Approach to Children's Orthodontics
Orthodontic issues could be growing and developing right alongside your child. By visiting an orthodontist early for an assessment, any potential issues can be identified and monitored.
At Clayton Orthodontics, we take a conservative approach to orthodontics for children, based primarily on monitoring growth and development. We only intervene when necessary, usually in cases where the child has a narrow upper jaw, a crossbite, or when adult teeth are being blocked from growing into position properly.
Some common oral problems that children face as they grow up include speech and eating issues, snoring, teeth grinding, and thumb sucking. By monitoring the situation early on, we can help guide and inform any future orthodontic treatment your child may need.
Our clinic in Halifax offers jaw growth guidance with palatal expanders, as well as clear aligners and traditional braces for our young patients.
Consultations & Monitoring for Children
Children should visit the orthodontist for the first time around the age of seven for an orthodontic consultation. This visit will give us an opportunity to determine if any orthodontic treatment is needed.
